Configuration Review Summary

Complete review of all device configurations in the fix-bgp-and-mlag branch.

Issues Found and Fixed

Critical Issue: MLAG Peer-Link Misconfiguration (ALL 8 Leafs)

  • Problem: Port-Channel999 configured with switchport mode access instead of switchport mode trunk
  • Impact: Prevented VLAN 4090 (MLAG peer) and VLAN 4091 (iBGP) from traversing peer-link, breaking MLAG and BGP EVPN sessions
  • Fixed in:
    • leaf1.cfg, leaf2.cfg (VTEP1)
    • leaf3.cfg, leaf4.cfg (VTEP2)
    • leaf5.cfg, leaf6.cfg (VTEP3)
    • leaf7.cfg, leaf8.cfg (VTEP4)

Configurations Validated

Spines (spine1, spine2): No issues found

  • Underlay BGP properly configured
  • EVPN peer-group settings correct
  • All leaf adjacencies properly defined

Leafs (leaf1-8): All fixed

  • MLAG configuration corrected
  • Underlay eBGP to spines properly configured
  • Underlay iBGP between MLAG pairs properly configured
  • EVPN overlay to spines properly configured
  • VXLAN interface properly configured
  • L2 VXLAN (VLAN 40) properly configured on VTEP1/VTEP3
  • L3 VXLAN (VRF gold) properly configured on VTEP2/VTEP4

Expected Lab Status After Redeployment

All 16 BGP EVPN sessions should establish:

  • spine1 ↔ leaf1, leaf2, leaf3, leaf4, leaf5, leaf6, leaf7, leaf8 (8 sessions)
  • spine2 ↔ leaf1, leaf2, leaf3, leaf4, leaf5, leaf6, leaf7, leaf8 (8 sessions)

All 4 MLAG pairs should be operational with proper dual-active detection.

Ready for Deployment

All configurations have been reviewed and fixed. You can now redeploy the lab.
